Mitsubishi Electric launches cost effective R32 models
Mitsubishi Electric launches cost effective R32 models
Mitsubishi Electric has unveiled a new line of R32 products designed to meet the need for cost effective air conditioning using low GWP refrigerant. The new R32 M Series MSZ-HR Wall Mounted System blends energy efficiency with a compact and stylish design, with the entry-level offering to the M Series product range being ideal for applications requiring a small scale, highly efficient air conditioning system.
Making use of Mitsubishi Electric’s inverter driven technology, the wall mounted range is available in 2.5kW, 3.5kW and a new 5.0kW system sizes. As a direct replacement for the R410A MSZ-DM range, the new series uses R32 refrigerant which has a significantly lower Global Warming Potential (GWP), helping users to reduce their impact on the environment while at the same time delivering comfortable air temperatures to building occupants.
“At Mitsubishi Electric we are committed to delivering products that limit their impact on the environment, while delivering comfortable working environments,” says Carl Dickinson, Senior Product Manager, Mitsubishi Electric. “By introducing this cost effective product range with R32 refrigerant, we are continuing to meet the customer need for systems that have lower GWP. The M Series MSZ-HR, which has an ErP cooling efficiency rating of A++, is just another example of our focus on upgrading product lines to deliver industry-leading efficiency.”
As part of Mitsubishi Electric’s commitment to greater energy efficiency from its products, the new MSZ-HR series comes with an optional Wi-Fi capability, enabling control and monitoring of each system using smartphone, tablet or PC via the MELCloud app.

Modern Materials
Carlisle Road from LBMV Architects
The Carlisle Road Project reveals a Victorian townhouse in North London updated for the homeowner’s modern lifestyle, with a combination of contemporary materials and intelligent design breathing new life into the interior. To maximise all available space, the layout of the entire property was redesigned with the addition of an open-plan kitchen extension that leads out to the garden and a loft conversion on the third floor. Considering the demands of the brief to use the space in the most efficient way possible, LBMV Architects applied a rational approach to the design, introducing partitions between each room to house built-in wardrobes and custom storage units.
In contrast to many of their previous projects, Carlisle Road replaces period features typical to the age of the property in favour of increased living space for the homeowners. The result reveals a vast living room and incredibly spacious kitchen that would usually only be found in a much larger property.
The impressive structure of the glass extension provides uninterrupted views to the garden with stylish glass sliding doors and a vaulted skylight to the side that makes the most of all natural light.

Quartz in a Quarter of the Time (and Cost)
Hard wearing, good looking and easy to care for quartz worksurfaces are growing in popularity. The downside with most quartz tops is that they cannot be fabricated on site, which causes delay and extra cost.
Ever innovative, Bushboard M-Stone is a quartz surface that can be installed on site. M-Stone is entirely different to any other quartz worksurface on the market because it offers fast and easy installation without the need for advanced fabrication, dramatically reducing both costs and waiting time.
Cool to the touch, M-Stone is a unique blend of natural stone particles with resin resulting in a material that is technically advanced compared to stone and granite. It is heat, impact, abrasion and moisture resistant. Surfaces are 20mm thick and matching splashbacks, and upstands are available to complete the look. “This is a material with its own character and composition and a wide range of benefits. Its high-performance while being low maintenance, “says Bushboard’s Hannah Abbott. “Installers find it easy to cut and join, it is perfect for use with all styles of sink – undermount, Belfast & Butler, flush-mount and inset sinks all look terrific with M-Stone, and drainer grooves are straightforward to add.

Sleep + Eat Success for VitrA
VitrA has reported that the new look Sleep + Eat 2018 was a great success for the international bathroom company. The exhibition formed part of a series of high-profile events for VitrA during 2018 that has included designjunction and the RIBA + VitrA Talks series. The two-day Sleep + Eat show attracted architects, designers, builders and specifiers from the contracts and hospitality industries.
“The new format Sleep + Eat was busy with professional designers and specifiers looking for inspiration for both live and pipeline projects,” said VitrA Marketing Manager Margaret Talbot. “We took an aspirational design approach for the VitrA stand this year creating a compellingly display with the new Terri Pecora collection Plural. Miniworx and Cardostone tiles formed a key part of the design alongside new products shown from the iconic Ross Lovegrove collection, Istanbul.”

New M Series range from Mitsubishi Electric targets IT cooling market
Mitsubishi Electric has launched a brand new range of M Series R32 air conditioning solutions, designed specifically for the UK IT Cooling market. The high sensible cooling systems are ideal for small computer rooms or areas that require a greater degree of sensible cooling.
The new M Series MSY-TP R32 Cooling Only High SHF Wall Mounted System is a brand-new product solution for the UK market, available in both 3.5kW and 5.0kW sizes, and includes an SHF (Sensible Heat Factor) of up to 0.98.
The cooling only unit has a high sensible cooling capacity, and blends energy efficiency with a modern white design. As a critical market driver for businesses looking to deploy IT cooling, a high sensible cooling system is able to significantly cool the room without removing too much moisture.
“The introduction of the M Series MSY-TP is just another step for Mitsubishi Electric towards delivering best-in-class products into the IT cooling market, a critical area as businesses increasingly rely on technology for their day to day operations,” says Carl Dickinson, Senior Product Manager, Mitsubishi Electric. “Our new solution offers companies a compact alternative to large scale IT cooling.”
The use of R32 refrigerant has a lower total Global Warming Potential (GWP) than traditional refrigerants such as R410A, helping to reduce overall running costs – essential for equipment that can be operating for long periods of time such as those required in IT infrastructure.
