Vent-Axia Blooms at The Botanics in Glasgow

Vent-Axia Blooms at The Botanics in Glasgow

Leading British ventilation manufacturer Vent-Axia has supplied 94 whole house ventilation units to a prestigious housing development in Glasgow. Sited on the grounds of the former BBC Studios in the west end of the city, The Botanics is a £45m scheme that overlooks the River Kelvin and the botanic gardens.

Completed in January 2018, the David Wilson Homes development was designed by CDA Architects and includes 19 townhouses and 75 apartments over four apartment buildings. The show home includes a dedicated cinema room and the townhouses all benefit from their own roof terrace. 90 Sentinel Multivent continuous mechanical extract ventilation (MEV) units and 4 Sentinel Kinetic Advance S Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) units were installed.

Vent-Axia Sentinel MEV

Vent-Axia’s Sentinel MEV units were specified due to the unit’s high performance, coupled with low internal noise levels and aesthetics, with the unit only featuring one external grille. The Sentinel Kinetic Advance S MVHR was also selected for four of the properties. In these properties the windows do not open and the Advance was chosen due to its performance, as well as its ability to both improve indoor air quality and help avoid any overheating issues. The Advance also boasts exceptional efficiency, near silent operation and high-pressure development.

“We are delighted to have been involved in this prestigious development and to have supplied our MEV and MVHR units to provide residents with a healthy and comfortable living space. Performance was key in the specification of both these ventilation options” explains Jim Graham, Sales Executive – New Build Residential, Vent-Axia. “The Sentinel MEV and Advance S both offer residents a number of benefits including quiet operation, lower energy bills and improved indoor air quality, all of which are great selling points for the apartments.”

The Lo-Carbon Multivent MVDC is one of the most efficient extract units available and has best in class Specific Fan Power of just 0.16W/l/s making it an attractive option to homebuyers. Designed for the simultaneous ventilation of separate areas in the home, it ensures comfort levels are maintained at all times. An acoustic lining is included as standard, ensuring minimum noise levels which was a key specifier for this project. Designed to meet the exacting demands of developers, installers and users, it offers advanced control options and easier installation and commissioning.

The Sentinel Kinetic Advance S MVHR features time-saving commissioning and control via a unique web-enabled App. Ideal for air-tight thermally efficient new builds, such as The Botanics, the Advance offers exceptional performance. Low carbon, energy saving and clean, fresh incoming air is preheated via the integral heat exchanger which recovers up to 92% of heat energy that would otherwise be wasted. Advance also features a revolutionary programmable 100% summer bypass to ensure year-round thermal comfort avoiding overheating, particularly where windows cannot be opened. Filters up to F7 (ISO ePM1 50% and 65%) grade ensure that even buildings in heavily urbanised areas can filter out most impurities, including damaging PM2.5 particles.
